Abstract

This paper offers a discussion of Jure Simoniti’s book The Untruth of Reality. While broadly sympathetic to Simoniti’s ‘realist thesis’ as a conceptual account of asymmetrical relation between reality and truth production in modern philosophy – according to which reality reveals itself in its ‘realism’ insofar as it is not a sufficient reason for the emergence of truth, insofar as it is ‘untruth’ – the text engages into a meta-philosophical reflection of Simoniti’s project and explores the implications of Simoniti’s position not only in terms of its original interpretation of ‘growing realism’, that proves to be irreducible to truth-value in modern philosophy, but also in terms of the possibility of philosophical commitment to truth production in a post-truth era.
