Abstract
An important line of interpretation understands the Hegelian notion of concrete universality as the sign of a definitive overcoming of metaphysical thinking. However, since Hegel himself, expressis verbis, ascribes a metaphysical meaning to his own logic, it is necessary to ask: to what extent is it possible to defend that, on the basis of this notion, Hegel’s philosophy carries out a cancellation or an overcoming of metaphysics? The present work aims to shed light on this question by undertaking a careful exegesis of the logic of the concept as such in order to elucidate, with an essentially hermeneutic methodology, the systematic significance of the concrete universal, as well as its functionality in real philosophy.
