Die Typologie des Allgemeinen – Eine Vorstudie zu Hegels Formel des «concreten Allgemeinen»

Abstract

Hegel applies the concrete universal in his Logic as well as in his ‘Realphilosophie’. Any reading of his formula has to consider the concrete and the moments of The concept in Hegel, but this prestudy focuses on the aspect of the universal. Hegel’s different types of the universal correlate with the ancient typology summarized by Simplikios, insofar Hegel does not confine himself to abstracted mental concepts or statements of essence. Thus, the concrete universal cannot be construed as abstract universal or objective in a sense of genus or species. Hegel claims a ‘Bewegung’ of the universal as coherence of its forms or types, which is in need of explanation and could point to the intergrowth of the concrete.
